599,786. Radio navigation. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., and GLOUGH, N. H. May 13, 1943. No. 7673. [Class 40 (v)] A monitoring arrangement for an equisignal radio-beacon comprises two pick-up aerials pe, pt (situated in the different lobes of the field and at equal distances from the equisignal plane) connected by switching means co1, co2, alternately with a receiver and amplifier R, the output from which is fed over line L2 to an indicator i at a control point C. A third pick-up aerial pc in the equi-signal plane may also be provided. The indicator may consist of a left-right indicator of the usual type, or of a pair of gas-filled discharge-tubes of the kind in which the length of the glowing column is a function of the voltage applied thereto, Fig. 4 (not shown). The switches col, co2 may be controlled by relays rw1, rw2 associated with rectifiers re1, re2 so as to respond selectively to the polarity of the current impressed on the line l1 by a switch s which is operated by hand or synchronously with the course signal relay of the radiobeacon.
