602,337. Hair-clippers. CLOUEZ, A. P. March 29, 1945, No. 7938. Convention date, Aug. 4, 1942. [Class 131] A dry shaver comprises a knife 1 which is oscillated relatively to a fixed blade 18 by a lever 6 operated by an electromagnet 11, the knife 1 being resiliently connected to the end 5 of the oscillating lever 6 by a spring 35 whereby the knife is permitted a small relative movement in relation to the lever, while a constant pressure is maintained between the knives. The electromagnet 11 may be operated by direct or alternating current, a make-and-break switch 12 being provided for direct current operation, and a second switch 16, which is closed by the pressure of the hand on a portion 17 of the cover, is provided for operation by alternating current. The switch may be short circuited by a push button 13 when alternating current is being used. The outer blade 18 is formed with three sets of staggered slots 20, 21, 22, Fig. 6, with holes 23, 24 between the slot zones, and the teeth of the moving knife are of trapezoidal shape to promote the shearing action.' The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 also describes a hair clipper, Fig. 8 (Cancelled), in which the moving blade is operated by a lever 39, the lower end of which has a socket 41 engaging the upper end 5 an oscillating lever 6 actuated by an electromagnet. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
