[Class 81(ii)] Electrotherapeutical apparatus comprises an alternating current rectifier including valves 5, 51, automatic swiches 8, 12 adapted periodically to open the anode feeding line and cathode heating line of at least one of the valves-as shown, valve 51-, the frequency of operation of the switches being different, and a hand-controlled change-over switch 19 so associated with the automatic switches as to cause selective operation or short-circuiting thereof. The switches 8, 12 are preferably operated by cams 10, 15 of differing outline, and driven by motor 18 through gearing 17. A hand-controlled switch 7 is included in the anode feed line of valve 5. The rectified current, of various characteristics dependent on the operation of switches 7, 8, 12, 19, is fed to potentiometer 20, supplying output terminals 21 with a regulatable current through ammeter 23 and reversing switch 22. Condensers 24, 25 may be switched into parallel with the potentiometer. The output terminals are connected to the horizontal plates 28 of a cathode ray oscillograph, the vertical plates 30 of which are fed via variable condenser 33 and potentiometer 32 from one of the secondary windings 31 of the transformer. The shape of the current curves may thereby be visualized.
