Class 80 (i) A link belt for co-operating with the grooves of V-pulleys comprises friction blocks 1 of resilient material, such as leather, rubber, or wood, fibre or plastic, coated with a resilient material, enclosed in hinged cage elements 6 each of which is constituted by a plurality of trapezoidal links with a curved loop 6a at one end, which links are mounted on the block with the loops projecting alternately at opposite ends to provide eyelets for engaging with hinge pins 4. The links are preferably of steel wire and the assembly may be welded at 8 while the hinge pins are preferably of a non-metallic resilient material. Alternatively the links may be of an artificial or synthetic material in which case the pins would be of steel. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also various other constructions of cages enclosing or supporting the friction blocks and formed of sheet material with a hinge loop at each end. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
