[Also in Group VII] Two or more lengths of fabric to be united together are superimposed and sewn up at their ends to form an endless band which is blindstitched along its entire length and width by successively applying a plurality of parallel lines of stitches running lengthwise of the band. With wide fabrics, half the width is stitched from each edge. The superimposed fabrics 5 are pulled over a work-table 1 and under a roll 37 by a rubber-covered feed roll 13 and are piled in folds in a movable receptacle 35 by a swinging-arm device 33. The leading end of the assembled fabrics is withdrawn through rolls 36 forming the bottom of the receptacle, led around a rubber-covered feed roll 12 and roll 38 on to the work-table where it is stitched to the rear end of the assembled fabrics to provide an endless band which is blind-stitched by a machine 2. The band is guided by hand so that properly spaced stitch lines are applied over the whole width without stopping the machine. The fabrics are pressed against rolls 12 and 13 by weight-biased discs 18 and 19. Garment parts, e.g. undercollars comprising the undercloth and intermediate lining of the collar of a costume, may be cut directly, to their final size, from the compound fabric.
