In a radio receiver having a visual tuning indicator 24, a switch 17 is provided so that the tuning indicator may also be used to monitor the output level. When contacts 19, 20 and 12, 13 are closed the indicator tube 24 is available for tuning. In a second position of the switch, contacts 19, 21 and 12, 13, 14 are closed and the tube is connected to the second. ary of the output transformer 10 via condenser 23 and resistor 22. In a third position, contacts 19, 21 and 12, 14 are closed: the loudspeaker 15 is then,disconnected, being replaced by a dummy load resistor 16. The arrangement is primarily for use in making magnetic tape recording, the output being taken from terminals 11.
