Heat-sensitive recording paper, on which diagrams and graphs can be recorded by a hot metal stylus or electric sparks, is produced by applying a white homogeneous coating consisting of cellulose acetabutyrates having melting points between 185‹ and 240‹ C. dissolved in a rapidly evaporating organic solvent or mixture of solvents and containing a plasticizer to a paper of a different colour, and evaporating the solvent by exposure to a current of air. The plasticizer may be a mixture of dicyclohexyl phthalate and triacetin. Solvents specified are acetone, methanol, methylene chloride, ethyl ether, methyl acetal, acetic acid, methyl acetate and mixtures thereof.
