A tea-harvesting machine comprises a frame 3, 8 pivoted to a vertically adjustable support 2 on a tractor so as to be counterbalanced about the pivot, the frame carrying an assembly comprising a cutter 5 and means 4 behind the cutter for continuously engaging the top of the tea-hedge. The support comprises the pistons 2 of two laterally - spaced hydraulic rams 1, the ram-pistons being vertically adjustable and pivotably carrying the framework 3, 8 at their upper ends. The arm 8 of the framework includes an adjustable weight 7. The cutter is surmounted by a reel 6 which sweeps the cut leaf into an elongated tray 4 the base of which engages the cut hedge. Suction tranking could be provided above the tray for removal of the crop.
