The invention comprises the piperazine salt of the general formula FORM:0888679/IV (b)/1 and the preparation thereof by reacting either the laevulinic acid derivative of cyanacetic acid hydrazide in solution with piperazine, a hydrate or an acid addition salt thereof or the piperazine salt of laevulinic acid with cyanacetic acid hydrazide.
