The main motor 4 driving a tippler 1 is switched-off as the tippler approaches its end position and a creep drive is then provided by a further motor 7, driving through a lower transmission ratio. In the arrangement illustrated the motor 4 drives the planet carrier 5 of an epicyclic gear the sun wheel 6 of which is driven by the motor 7, and each motor is provided with a brake applied when limit switches switch-off the motor. The final drive to the tippler 1 is through a flexible member 2.
