A machine for planting bulbs, tubers or seeds in rows comprises a number of shoots 3 arranged side by side, and oscillated in a longitudinal direction. As shown a hopper 1 has a separate opening for each shoot 3 and the shoots 3 are suspended on links 5 and oscillated by a crank 8 and driving rod 6 through belt gearing 11 driven from a tractor power shaft. Separate furrows are opened by shares 13 and levelled by double discs 14. In a modification a second set of shoots are provided together with hoppers for sowing a second kind of seed such as clover. Alternatively, these second shoots may be used for depositing weedkiller or disinfectant.
