[Also in Division F2] A centring device for a train pipe coupling of a railway vehicle comprises a resiliently displaceable coupling pipe 1 carrying at its front end a packing ring 3, and guide members in the form of plates 9, 7 diametrically facing each other and each surrounding approximately 90 degrees of the pipe coupling and being spaced therefrom. The plates extend parallel to the pipe axis and project forwardly by relatively unequal amounts, each front flat end face 11, 13 being connected to radial side faces 15, 17 by a bevelled surface 19, 21. The plates are rigidly connected to a pipe section 5 secured to the coupling pipe 1, by a readily releasable connection, e.g. a a bayonet fastening. In central buffer couplings of the Willison type described in Specification 966,305 corresponding guide plates are used on the other coupling head, the plates of one head fitting the gap between the plates of the other head.
