Polyolefin surfaces which have been treated to render them more readily bondable are bonded together with the aid of a starch, dextrin or polyvinyl acetate adhesive applied, preferably in an aqueous medium, and in quantity of 1-5 gms. per square metre. In examples a polythene foil was bonded to a similar foil or to paper coated with polythene by coating a foil surface with a 50% aqueous suspension of polyvinul acetate in quantity of 8-10 gms./mSP2/SP heating the coated surface by direct infringement of flame or by passing the foil over a heated roller, until the suspension was broken and the adhesive fused, and pressing the two layers together.
