A waveguide system, for use e.g. in a monopulse radar, comprises a magic-T junction whose symmetrical arms have a common narrow wall 17 and are equally connected by a stepped transition to two aerial feeders 14, 15 separated by a common broad wall 8. A thickened portion 9 of the wall 8 houses a coaxial line 18 which terminates in a probe extending towards the septum 17. The arrangement is such that, during reception, the waveguides 14, 15 transmit a complex wave comprising a TE 02 component, in-phase TE 01 components and anti-phase TE 01 components, the amplitudes of these components being functions of the position of the target. The TE 02 component results in a signal in the output #G, the inphase TE 01 components result in a signal in the output #, and the anti-phase TE 01 components result in a signal in the coaxial output AS.
