Modelling paste comprises 10-60 (wt.)% mineral wax, 8-30% plasticiser compatible with the wax and 15-75% inert filler. Pref. compsn. contains 15-30% wax, 10-15% plasticiser and 50-70% filler. The wax has a m.pt. of 35-85, pref. 50-70 deg.C and is pref. microcrystalline wax. The plasticiser is a straight chain hydrocarbon which is solid at room temp., pref. being eicosane. The filler has a particle size of less than 50 microns and pref. less than 25 micron, pref. one being calcareous. The compsn. pref. contains less than 5 wt.% of a softener (pref. a mineral oil), esp. to 4% emulsifier (pref. lecithin), up to 2% anti-blocking agent (pref. propylene glycol, poly monooleate), and a colourant (pref. a pigment). Used by children, the compsn. is free from water and does not harden permanently to exposure to atmosphere for prolonged periods. The components are non-toxic.
