1,140,285. Induction relays. SIEMENS A.G. 14 March, 1967 [22 March, 1966], No. 12006/67. Heading H1N. [Also in Division H2] An induction relay comprises a single conductive rotor on which act two or more electromagnetic systems each comprising a voltage pole between two current poles, the systems having an angular spacing about the axis of the rotor of less than 180 degrees such that interaction between the voltage poles will produce a torque opposing the main torque of the electromagnetic systems and that interaction between the current poles produce a torque assisting the main torque. Normally the voltage torque predominates but when the current increases and the voltage falls due to a short-circuit in the protected system, the resultant torque changes direction so that the rotor reverses its direction of rotation and actuates contacts.
