Iron pyrites is heated in a fluidised bed to 600-800 degrees C, dissociating Fe S2 into FeS and volatile sulphur from the second stage. Preheated partially desulphurated pyrite is put in an electric furnace to remove volatile metal sulphides, slag and iron sulphide; finally, particles of iron sulphide are roasted in a fluidised bed between 950 and 1000 degrees C.
