1,188,896. Rotary-piston internal combustion engines. DAIMLER-BENZ A.G. Sept.16, 1968, No.43884/68. Heading F1F. To improve starting at low ambient temperatures of rotary-piston I.C. engines with electrical ignition, means are fitted for shutting off the fuel supply to the engine until the engine has been turned over for a longer or shorter time depending on temperature conditions to warm the engine sufficiently to prevent condensation of the fuel and wetting of the plug. As shown applied to a rotary-piston I.C. engine having a bi-arcuate epitrochoidal profiled casing 1 and a three-sided piston 3, the means comprises a lever 17 having a head 19 which at low temperatures engages a rod 16 to hold a fuel-injection pump 14 in "no delivery"position. On starting the engine a heating coil 22 is energized and heats a bi-metal spring 20 anchored at 21, so that the spring moves the head 19 out of engagement with the rod 16 to position the pump 14 to supply fuel to the engine. At higher ambient temperatures, the spring positions the head such that it has a less distance to move before disengaging the rod 16. At temperatures of say 0‹C. and above, the lever 17 will already be disengaged.
