CONCENTRIC COIL WINDINGS FOR THREE-SPEED,SINGLE-PHASE INDUCTION MOTOR STATOR

A multi-speed, single phase induction motor has at least three main windings producing different numbers of poles when energized, a first winding having portions which can be serially connected to a third main winding to produce consequent poles forming part of a third number of poles. As shown, the first winding 40 produces four poles for high speed running and a second winding 41 produces six poles for a second speed. The third winding 43 is also a six pole winding and is connected in series with the winding portions 50 of winding 40 so as to produce two consequent poles making a total of eight poles for low speed running. A starting winding 42 is also provided.
