Helium mass spectrometer for leak detec-tion

Helium mass spectrometer for leak detection on buried cables. To locate any leaks in buried gas-filled high-tension cables or gas or water mains, the cavity is filled with helium. Along the route on the surface a portable funnel in connection with an air pump is used to collect any escaping helium. This is passed to a mass spectrometer, and indicated, thus locating the exact position of the leak.
