The invention relates to compounds of the general formula in which R is an alkyl radical containing up to 6 carbon atoms and X is an electron-attracting group which may be, for example, a cyano group or a carbonyl-containing group which in the latter case is part of a ketone, carboxylic acid or carboxylic acid ester. Compound claimed per se is methyl 2,2-di-(2-cyanoethyl)- 3,11-dioxo-18α and 18#-olean-12-en-30-oate. The compounds may be prepared by reacting a keto compound of the general formula with a compound of a general formula X-CH=CH 2 .
