In a tunnel lining formed with axially mating rings each ring comprises a plurality of panels P having a curved flanged member 1, Fig. 4, and an axially extending frustoconical portion 7, Fig. 7. Each panel P is engaged with its neighbours in a ring by ribs and sockets 8, 9 formed on flanges 2 and surrounded by a seal 10. The ribs may be continuous or stepped. Each ring may be completed by an extensible key panel P1 having a flanged member 14 slidable relative to a flanged member 13 by a jack V or wedge blocks. The axis of the lining may be adjusted by inserting blocks 19 between the rings. The rings may be connected by bolts 20 or stirrups 21. In a modification, Fig. 12, the expansible panel has the member 14 lockable relative to the member 13 by bolts 28 engaging slots 30. The connection between the members 13, 14 and the adjacent rings is sealed by a plate 31 and seals 10a, 24, 25, 27.
