Organic photosensitive materials - contg iodide to improve spectral sensitivity range

Photosensitive compsn. comprises a dispersion of an organic photochemical material in a continuous phase, in which it is insol., a sensitiser for the material and an iodide. Iodide, pref. NH4I, NaI or KI, improves sensitivity. Photochemical compsn. is based on an organic halogen cpd. (pref. CBr4), cpd. contg. N as part of heterocyclic ring or bound to benzene ring (N-vinylcarbazole) and optically sensitising dyestuff. Continuous phase is a photographic binder, e.g. gelatin.
