alloys contain =40 wt.% Li and =5 wt.% H, and pref. 15 wt.% totla Al and/or Zn and/or Cd and/or Ag and/or Si and/or Zr and/or rare earths and/or B. H2-introduction may take place by annealing esp. of flocculent powders or flaky granulates in an H2-contng. atmos. Siphoning process may be used. A rotating rod-shaped siphon dips into melt covered with salt and conveys melt to orifices from which it is centrifuged and thrown as drops which bounce at an acute angle against a cooled sheet, under a protective atmos. Granulate or powder is formed and is subsequently annealed in an H2-atmos. Blanks may be formed by extruding the powder or granulates at 100-400 degrees C., while sheets may be formed directly by rolling.
