The pistol, comprises a gun barrel with a breech casing in a body forming a pistol grip. The rod, which on firing penetrates the brain-pan of the animal, is centered in the barrel and is associated with a shock-absorbing buffer sleeve and an end sealing ring. The rod receives the explosive force when the cartridge is fired and it is returned automatically by the expansion of the burnt gases. The breech is thus opened automatically after each shot for removing the spent cartridge manually and for re-loading.
