1281925 Photographic processing apparatus W ZINDLER [trading as LUMOPRINT ZINDLER KG] 31 July 1969 [23 Aug 1968] 38464/69 Heading G2A In a processing apparatus in which two different materials pass through separate processing tanks prior to effecting an image transfer from one to the other, one tank (21) fits within the other (1). Fig. 1 shows the outer (lower) tank 1, which has ribs 7, 8 for guiding the film as it passes through the tank. At one end of tank 1 is a small enclosure 12 formed by the end-wall 5 of the tank and additional wall portions 13, 14, 15. Wall portion 14 has an aperture 16. As seen most clearly in Fig. 5, the underside of tank 1 has a recessed portion 58, ending in a stepped formation 17, 18, 19. On these are mounted two tubular connectors 11, 20, connector 11 leading directly into the tank 1, and connector 20 leading into the enclosure 12. Fig. 2 shows the inner (upper) tank 21, which similarly has guide ribs 30, 31, and has at one end a tubular connector 29. When tank 21 is fitted into tank 1, flanges 34, 35 on its end-walls locate in supporting cut-away portions 32, 33, and connector 29 enters into aperture 16. A liquid-tight sealing member may be provided at this connection. The supply of processing liquids comes from two separate flexible bags 68, 69, welded together along a common seam 72. The liquids are conveyed by respective pipes 66, 67, the ends of the pipes being held in a support 64 carried by a lever 60 mounted on a pivot 61. The ends of the connectors 11, 20 are tapered, so that connection with the pipes 66, 67 can be made quickly and easily by pushing lever 60 clockwise, Fig. 5. When the bags 68, 69 are now compressed, liquid entering through connector 11 passes directly into the outer tank 1, while liquid entering through connector 20 passes into compartment 12 and thence through aperture 16 and connector 29 into the inner tank 21. The material passing through the inner tank is wetted by an application roller (49), Fig. 4 (not shown), which may also act as a liquid agitator means. The transfer is finally effected as the film strips pass between a pair of pressure rollers 40, 41.
