Key input/output parameters are measured and fed via pre-processing/analysis units to the central data processor. This has a stored programme for the computation simultaneously, of a number of key "condition"/"state" parameters by both deductive and inductive methods. The results of both calculations are weighted and fed to an evaluation and mean value calculation unit whose output represents the accurate mean value.
