Flat bar knitting machine - with groups of transfer points to form half or rib transfer stitches

The transfer points are divided into two groups each extending along half the length of the knitting head, and each point can be selectively lowered, pref. by a rocking lever controlled by a rotating programme cylinder, into co-operation with a knitting needle. The points are also movable sideways as in a narrowing head. The mechanism is simple and allows a wide variety of patterns to be formed.
