Displaceable appts. on the roof of a coke oven battery having a drive suitable for cleaning the charging shafts, the ascension pipes and the roof of the battery comprising a mobile chassis on the frame of which are mounted the following devices: (a) an appts. for gripping, lifting, pivoting, lowering, replacing and screwing up the covers of the charging shafts in sealed fashion in the seatings on the frame of the shaft, (b) equipment for cleaning the charging shafts, (c) device for cleaning the ascension pipes and their elbow bends.
