1320088 Removing blow-moulded articles SOLVAY & CIE 20 Sept 1971 [25 Sept 1970] 43726/71 Heading B5A Blow-mould articles are removed from their moulds and placed on a conveyer by apparatus comprising a series of gripping elements mounted on a movable support, the elements holding the articles around their necks when they are ejected from the moulds and removing them completely therefrom. As shown in Fig. 1, articles 35 are formed in blow moulds 34 mounted on machine 1 rotatable about axle 6. The removing apparatus comprises a plate 2 rotating about shaft 5 and having arms 3 with grippers 4, Each arm 3 is pivoted about axle 8 by rack 14 and pinion 15 operated by cam roller 11 from cam 16 through rod 12 and biased by spring 13 to the vertical. Each arm 3 carries a bush 17 with an inner bush 18 and a central rod 21 which opens gripper jaws 19 against spring 20 when lowered by means of cams 26, 27 through roller 25, lever 24, rod 23 and lever 22. Inner bush 18 is rotated to swivel article 35 into vertical position 39 for deposition on conveyer 40 by cam 33 through roller 32 on lever 30 pivoted at 31, rod 29 and lever 28. In operation, article 35 is ejected from mould 34 by ejector 36 into the open grippers 4 which close thereon and remove it completely from the mould as plate 2 and machine 1 rotate and as the arm 3 is returned to its vertical position. Meanwhile, inner bush 18 is turned through 90 degrees to deposit the article 39 on conveyer 40 which moves at the same speed. Jaws 19 are then opened to release the article and arm 3 then returned to its initial position, inner bush 18 simultaneously being returned to its initial position for a further cycle.
