A SUCTION CURETTE FOR VACUUM ASPIRATION OF UTERUS.

An apparatus for vacuum aspiration of uterine contents in the case of a pregnancy of not more than 13 weeks" duration, comprising (a) a calibrated suction curette of electroplated metal pipe of narrow diameter, (b)  a flexible transparent thick-walled plastic tube, and (c) a collecting air-tight bottle provided with a pressure-guage and connected to a suction  apparatus, the   said curette being  adapted  at its  collecting open  end  for insertion into the uterus through previously dilated cervix, the said  curette being characterized by being provided near  its collecting end with two longitudinal  surface openings of the "Karman" plastic catheter type at staggered distances from the end, the said curette being further characterized by being provided near its discharge  end with a thumb-rest carrying an air-hole and its discharge end being provided with a stepped universal joint coupling, either fixed or provided with an air -tight-ball- valve, the said flexible tube being connected at its one end  to the stepped universal joint coupling at the discharge end of the curette and at its other end to a stepped universal joint coupling on a metal tube inserted into the bottle, its diameter being not less than that of the discharge end of the curette, the said bottle being provided with an airtight hard indiarubber cork with holes through  which pass the pressure gauge tube, the aforesaid metal tube and another shorter metal tube narrower than its companion metal tube, the ihorter metal tube being provided at its outer end with a stepped universal joint coupling,  the. inner end of the longer tube inside the bottle being lower than that of the shorter tube, the shorter tube being connected to the suction  apparatus by a  flexible  tubing through the universal joint coupling at its outer end.
