1383036 Tipping refuse containers R NOLTING and F STREUBER [trading as SULO EISENWERK STREUBER & LOHMANN] 6 Sept 1972 [17 Sept 1971] 41214/72 Heading B8E Apparatus for tipping refuse from a container 6 into a collector, e.g. a vehicle 1, comprises a pivotal arm 8 carrying an upper gripper rail 15 which engages pick up means 27 on the container 6, a lower support rail 16 which abuts the side wall of tne container, and an extension 19 of the arm 8 between which and the gripper rail 15 the pick-up means 27 is clamped. The gripper rail 15 and the support rail 16 are secured to a plate 13 pivoted to parallel arms 11, 12 pivoted to the pivot arm 8. To raise the container from the ground and clamp the pick up means 27 against the extension 19, rams 14 are retracted to swing the arms 11, 12 upwardly. Rams 10 are then activated to pivot the arm 8 and thus tip the container 6, a handle 29 on the lid 5 of which engages a pivotal device 4 which, on further pivoting of the arm 8, pivots into the vehicle 1 to open the lid 5 and displace a curtain 3 closing the loading opening 2 of the vehicle. The rail 15 has claws 21 which engage in recesses in the pick-up means, and a rib 23 which abuts the extension 19.
