7-substituted-3,3a,4,5,6,7-hexahydro-3-substituted-2H-pyrazolo[4,3-e]p yridines and the acid addition salts thereof are reported. In addition, method for preparing said compounds, pharmaceutical compositions containing said compounds and methods for using said compositions as central nervous system depressants are disclosed.
