Perfluoralkylated organosilicon cpds - used as oil and water repellent finishes for textiles

Alcohols or alcoholates of formula F-C(CF3)2-C(CF3)2- OM (where M is H or alkali metal) are reacted with allyl chloride, -bromide or -iodide to form an allyl ether on to which an organosilicon cpd. contg. =1 SiH-gp. is added to form branched perfluoalkyl gp.-contg. organosilicon cpds., useful as oil- and water-repellent finishes for natural and synthetic textiles, paper, leather and other fibre materials. Finishes also impart soft handle and resist hydrolysis, repeated washing and dry-cleaning.
