The novel title cpds. are of formula (where R1, R2 and R3 are independently H, halogen OH, CF3, benzyloxy, acyloxy, 1-6C alkyl, 1-3C alkoxy, 3-6C cycloalkyl or phenyl, or two of R1,R2 and R3 may together form OCH2O, R4 is H or 1-2C alkyl; R5 is H or 1-3C alkyl, and R6 is phenyl (opt. mono or disubstd. by halogen, CF3, OH, NO2, amino, benzyloxy, acyloxy, 1-3C alkoxy or 1-3C alkyl (thio)) or pyridyl (opt. substd. by halogen, OH, NO2, amino benzyloxy, acyloxy COOH, 1-3C (carb)alkoxy or 1-3C alkyl). They may be prepd. by reacting the corresp. 1-cyclobutanone one with where M is an alkali metal or Mg halide.
