The rotating rod under the carpeting is fitted with projections to raise the material in patterned bulges in the spraying zone to give structured zones of dyestuff penetration into the pile fibres from the angled spray gun, or group of sprays. A structured and dimensioned pattern effect is imparted to the pile surface of the tufted carpeting.
