Trienenitriles - as inters for insect juvenile hormone analogues

Trienenitriles of formula: (where m and n are each 0-3, R1 and R2 are lower alkyl R4 is 1-12C alkyl, R3,R12 and R13 are H or lower alkyl) are useful as inters for juvenile hormone analogues which can be used to control many types of insects including flies, caterpillars, beetles and aphids. In an example 3,7,11-trimethyldodeca-2,4,10-trienenitrile is prepd. by treatment of 6,10-dimethylundeca-3,9-dien-one with diethyl phosphonacetonitrile.
