1445325 Supporting tools during heattreatment STEYR DAIMLER-PUCH AG 8 April 1975 [9 April 1974] 14374/75 Heading C7N A number of rod-like workpieces, particularly twist drills are grouped together for heat-treatment by inserting their ends into a bed of resin-bonded moulding sand which is then hardened to form a holder. Preferably the drills are inserted into the bed through a perforated plate which subsequently serves as a carrier. When treatment is complete the holder is destroyed by jolting. As particularly described a bed of sand 9 is formed in a moulding flask 1, while spaced from the latter is a charging plate 3 having countersunk perforations 6 and magnets 4 by which a flanged 8 carrier plate 7 is temporarily secured to it. Drills 10 are passed through the corresponding holes in plates 3 and 3 and embedded in bed 9. When the assembly is complete the carrier-plate is forced down into the bed. If necessary the sand bed is jolted and is then heat hardened, the tube 12 having been replaced by a flanged carrier rod 14.
