Mg alloy contg. 0.8-6% Y, 0.5-4% Nd, 0.1-2.2% Zn, 0.31-1.1% Zr, 0.05% Cu and 0.2% Mn, bal. Mg, is suitable for (1) castings which in operation are heated permanently to 300 degrees C and for short times to 400 degrees c; (2) substitutes for Al- and, in some cases, for Ti alloys.
