Two complementary signals are consecutively applied to the converter. The appearance of a corresponding output signal per each input signal is monitored, and an alarm signal is tripped when an output signal is missing. Input signals are applied to the converter for its testing, whose signal elements on adjacent signal wires are different. Only two complementary signals may be used, and the monitoring device is connected to the converter outputs which are to deliver output signals. Each converter signal input has two input terminals, to which complementary signals are simultaneously applied for testing.
