High lift wing flaps for aeroplane wings - can be swung from body stored position to leading and trailing edges

The wing flaps are normally stored flush with the aircraft fuselage. Sliding links at one end of the flaps engage with slots which are parallel to the wing edges. Sliding links mounted at the other end of the flaps engage with slots parallel to the side of the fuselage. When one end of the flaps is moved outward towards the wing tip, the other end will be brought nearer to the wing edge. Alternatively, the flaps can be swung from their position flush with the fuselage, about a hinge point to the wind edges or the flaps can consist of sections which extend telescopically. The arrangement allows the use of optimal flap area for landing and take-off or for normal flight.
