A web drying appts. formed by a housing in which is arranged an upper and lower row of nozzles staggered with respect to each other in the direction of movement of the web and extending transversely of the web has each of the nozzles arranged in the form of a blast box, and each of the blast boxes has a face with a concave configuration provided with radial discharge openings such that the normally issuing jets impinge on the web at converging angle. Web dried by hot gases is conveyed pneumatically by the gases and the configuration of the blast boxes permits automatic adjustment of the pressure differential between the web and the boxes thereby preventing contact between the boxes and the web.
