Granular fertilizers contg. lime an trace elements are prepared by mixing lignite filter ash with powdered slaked lime or other Ca cpds. to a final CaO content of 35-55, esp. 40% by wt. (including that introduced with the filter ash), then homogenising, adding water and granulating in conventional apparatus and finally allowing the granules to set for up to 24 hr. in a thermally insulated reaction zone until the desired degree of setting is achieved. Compsn. is non-caking and dust-free and uses an otherwise waste material. The setting stage is effected without application of external heat. nutrients are released slowly.
