The blade (2) is pivoted in the lower half of the rubber, insulating handle. The upper half of the handle (4) fits into the lower half, clamping the blade either open or closed. Contact fasteners, such as Velcro (RTM) are fastened to the insides of both halves of the handles (5 & 6) and are used to hold them together. As an alternative the blade can slide, rather than pivot, into the handle. In this case there is a peg on the blade which can locate and slide in a notched slideway moulded into the lower handle half.
