1454740 N - Sulphenylated carbamates BAYER AG 15 July 1975 [16 July 1974 25 Sept 1974] 29643/75 Heading C2C The invention comprises N-sulphenylated carbamates of the formula (I) in which RSP1/SP is dialkylamino with 1-4 carbon atoms in the alkyl part, or phenyl substituted in the o- or m-position by halogen or alkyl with 1-4 carbon atoms, or phenyl substituted in the o-, m- or p-position by NO 2 , CF 3 or CN, and RSP2/SP is phenyl, naphthyl, benzodioxolanyl or indanyl, all of which may optionally be substituted by alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkoxy, alkenoxy, alkynoxy, alkylmercapto, alkenylmercapto, alkynylmercapto, dialkylamino, trihalogenomethyl, halogen, nitro, cyano, cycloalkyl, formamidino, dioxanyl or dioxolanyl, or is a radical of the formula in which RSP3/SP and RSP4/SP, which may be identical or different, are each alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, cyano or alkoxycarbonyl, it also being possible for the alkyl groups in RSP3/SP and RSP4/SP to be bonded to one another, or, provided that RSP1/SP represents NO 2 -substituted phenyl, RSP3/SP and RSP4/SP may form an optionally alkyl-substituted dihydrobenzofuranyl radical. They may be obtained by reacting a carbamic acid fluoride of the formula with a compound of the formula Insecticidal, acaricidal or nematicidal compositions comprise the compounds of Formula I above in admixture with a solid, liquid or liquefied gaseous diluent or carrier, or other active compounds. These compositions may be used to protect crop areas from insects, acarids or nematodes. Specific compounds of Formula II above wherein RSP1/SP is o- or m-nitrophenyl, o-tolyl or mchlorophenyl may be obtained by reacting the appropriately substituted benzene sulphonic acid methylamido-sulphene chloride with N- methyl carbamic acid fluoride. The said sulphene chlorides may be obtained by treating the appropriately substituted benzenesulphonic acid methylamido-disulphide suspended in CCl 4 with Cl 2 . Finally, the said disulphides may be obtained by treating the appropriately substituted benzenesulphonic acid methylamide suspended in CCl 4 with disulphur dichloride.
