In embedding metal parts in duroplast mouldings, and rivetting parts such as plugs and bars to such mouldings, the deformation of the duroplast is effected by ultrasonic energy, with addn. of substances which have a cooling, plasticising or lubricating effect or retard the reaction. Good bonding of metal parts to duroplasts is obtd. The additives used include water, alcohols, phenols, stearic acid (esters), or ester or amide waxes. Duroplasts used include phenoplasts, phenol-HCHO resins and polyester glass fibre compsns.
