Machine for injection moulding rubber or plastic articles has a piston that moves axially in an injection cylinder for displacing the plasticised mixt. through a nozzle into the moulding cavity, the injection cylinder being longer than the piston stroke, and the cylinder space which is not contacted by the piston, having =1 mixing zone for dividing the flowing mixt. into several streams, and a shear zone connected in the flow direction to the mixing zone by a part with a constricted cross section. Large sized rubber or plastic articles can be injection moulded in a very short cycle time. The high pressure in the shear zone ensures that the mixt. is uniformly heated without the formation of a core at a lower temp. The mixt. from the nozzle is very homogeneous and the machine is of simple construction.
