Dust suppression in fully mechanised coalfaces - film lagging drawn off roller and bonded to roof with pressure roller

Dust suppression system for fully mechanised coalfaces employing powered supports is based on the use of film lagging. The film is pulled off a roller and bonded to the roof with an adhesive assisted by a pressure roller. Preferably the film should be applied to the roof immediately behind the winning machine. The storage roller can be mounted directly on the machine, or else form a separate unit in the form of a tender or trailer. The roller should have an atomiser to spray the adhesive onto the film and/or onto the roof for lagging. The film container and/or the area in which the film is reeled off should be shrouded to keep dust out with the aid of overpressure. It is also possible to apply the film by extensible forepoled members.
