Indirect lighting system comprises several lighting tubes which are partially or completed shaded on the underside and which are suspended from a ceiling without a grid bar structure or alveolar structure, the lighting tubes themselves forming a latticework which meets the lighting requirements. The tubes are disposed in upwardly open channels, which may have recesses e.g. apertures or stamped areas to allow a proportion of direct lighting. The channels are interconnected by corner members, star members or T members, and have side surfaces of a height depending on the channel width.
