Screw conveyor for sticky granulated materials or sludge type mixtures - two parallel helical conveyor shafts used for axial transport with pins for blade cleaning

A screw type conveyor system employs two counter rotating screw type shaft for the transport of granulated materials with a tendency to clog or various types of sludge. The main shafts (2, 3) are tubular in cross-section and are parallel to each other and a thin helical profiled section (5) along the length. Rotation of the two shafts at the same speed, but in opposite directions results in an axial transport of material from the container in which the system is located. The conveyor may be moved in a direction at right angles to the axis of the shafts. With materials that exhibit a tendency to build-up on the helix a number of pins (8) are located equidistant radially on one of the conveyor shafts in order to clear the blades of the other shaft.
